The whole of your conscious experience consists of immortality.

It could be said that there are really two types of people: those
who are serious and venerate life, consequently choosing to be active
in it, and those for whom life is a struggle of finding ways to
pass time until eternal rest (i.e. nothingness) finally takes them
away. The former is heroic and honorable, while the latter is ignoble
passive resignation.
September 27, 2004 If you're an American, you should know that your government's reckless spending might offer borrowed wealth, but borrowed money can prove costly, and in this case, is so extreme that it will change your future. Because the principle of democracy is that no one is responsible, the two parties can be expected to continue spending borrowed money so recklessly that economists say it could easily end the U.S. as suddenly as the Soviet Union dissolved in bankruptcy. Wake up dummy, fiscal catastrophe is here The best part about a collapse of the U.S. is that it would allow new political and social possibilities far from what is currently permitted under the control of the destroyers of civilization. A separation of states, with Texas finally regaining independence as a republic, perhaps partitioning California, and allowing states to reorganize strategic alliances as they downsized and moved away from globalism, would encourage populations to move to locations where they identified with a state or region's values and political ideology. Instead of having the situation in a two-party system where typically 40-45% of the voting population votes against the leader but continue to live under and serve him for his term, a system based on eternal values would allow the population to be unified instead of divided, thereby allowing all to work towards common goals and beliefs instead of individualistic isolation. Wouldn't it be great to live for something you believed in instead of merely exerting labor for money like a slave or whore?
When you look at the fools in charge who avoid responsible
economics and continue to spend money they don't have, it is
important to remember that the destroyers of civilization
ultimately destroy themselves. September 24, 2004 Why philosophy today? - The internet aptly demonstrates the results of free speech: millions of people with ill-conceived ideas announce themselves proudly without awareness of their ignorance. Only a few people can even articulate their emotions; fewer still are able to think and express ideas beyond the trivial, or do other than obediently repeat media created opinions. Democracy's grand vision of empowering the masses ultimately mocks itself as it achieves its goal because it turns out most people today only think about television, consumerism, and entertainment, and feel the need to share the vapid facts on their daily chores and suffering.
"We are in great haste to construct a magnetic telegraph from Maine to Texas; but Maine and Texas, it may be, have nothing important to communicate." Philosophy teaches how to think, how to express ideas clearly and concisely (exceptions such as Hegel produce overly complex sentences to obscure a shortcoming of ideas), and how to quickly see deficiencies, dead ends, and structural inadequacies in any communication. The demonstration of these skills was capped in the 19th century by Schopenhauer and Nietzsche who both thought and wrote masterfully, thereby setting a high water mark just as Beethoven did with his completion of the classical style while introducing and uniting it with the romantic. Modern man is endlessly distracted by nonsense, thinks in fragments, and typically references television programs and movies as his store of knowledge. This way of life first eliminates the attention span necessary for investigating any substantial idea and then tries to find substance in insane junk entertainment manufactured for consumption by the bored, anti-intellectual masses.
In all of this, nature is as kind as uncivilized humans are loud,
for those whose lives suffer from an inability to think cannot hold
that idea long enough to draw its conclusion.
September 23, 2004 Our system of Financial democratic politics is based on manipulating mob rule by producing propaganda funded by monetary interests. Since it has no actual values, but takes contradictory and nonsensical positions in place of a real ideology, its results fail from incoherence and a lack of any functional direction other than serving its own ends and its master players. The Gettysburg Powerpoint Presentation
Voting for a different millionaire to lead you doesn't fix the problem
of a system that caters to money and takes advantage of mob stupidity
to pick a favorite from two options that are identical in all important
aspects.
September 22, 2004 As much as I find blogs insipid and banal, I think the format will work well for what I want to do. Don't worry, I won't be babbling about irrelevant social outings, making clever in-jokes, or staging drama for your amusement, but will only share a little of humanity's most scarce resource: ideas. |
